Firefly Classroom (8 Infants, ages 8 months to 16 months)

Welcome to the Fireflies Room!

We plan on having fun-filled activities for your children while they learn the fundamentals for their age group. We hope to promote your child’s growth as an active, curious and independent little person.   Our daily program will be based on sensory exploration, movement, language development, and promotion of independence. We have bi-monthly lesson plans that focus on developmentally appropriate activities, games, and learning experiences. We will play simple games, have outdoor gross motor experiences, read books, sing songs, explore nature, and art materials. In Fireflies Room, your baby will transition from infancy to the very beginnings of toddlerhood. In the Firefly Room toddlers are expected to:

·        Feed themselves in high chairs

·        crawl, and begin to walk

·        start developing language, through teacher-student communication

·        begin to learn about sharing with friends, and appropriate social interaction

·        Learn to grasp writing utensils in art activities

·        Nap in cribs without being rocked

·        Drink out of a Sippy cup

·        Begin to use utensils
