Under Construction!!
In the Stars, we try to create a stress-free environment. We pride ourselves on good parent-teacher communication. We work together to try to find solutions to problems your children may face. We welcome parent interaction in the classroom as much as possible.
We have lots of great ideas and projects planned for this year. Our program relies on a great deal of support from our WCCC families. Each child has a personalized cubby for seasonal clothes and personal items, as well as a labeled hook for outerwear, and a labeled clip for artwork and important papers. Please remember to sign your child IN AND OUT each day. This is a licensing requirement. Show and Share Day is on Fridays.
We divide into small groups at different times of the day so that your children will have more individualized attention and better hands-on experiences. We encourage on-going communication between home and school.
We would like for your children to be in class by 9:30 daily. We concentrate our program in the morning and sometimes leave for off-site activities during this time. We cannot sign children in or out on route to an activity. By dropping your child off by 9:30, this allows them to actively participate in our rich programs. The Star Room Guidelines The Star Room prepares your child for the Crickets Room, which is the room for children between 3 ½ and 4 ½. Our goal is to help the children become more self-sufficient and independent. Below is a list of some classroom guidelines we would like to follow to help your child strive in their emotional and social development at WCCC. · No Bottles/Sippy Cups *We use water bottles during summer only* · No Diapers Your child will be using the potty at least three times a day so we ask for pull-ups with Velcro sides (so the children can pull them up and down). Crickets do not have a changing table. WCCC tries to have the children move up when they are at least 90% potty trained. · Child Friendly Clothing We ask that you dress your children in bottoms that they can easily pull up and down themselves when using the potty. Overalls, pants/shorts with buttons or zippers tend to be difficult for the children when using the potty. · Quick Drop-Offs Please make your drop-offs short and sweet. It is sometimes harder for children when parents linger; try establishing a drop-off routine for your child. Please allow your child to walk inside the classroom on their own so they don’t expect to be held. It helps with drop-offs. · Drop-Off Time Please have your child here by 9:30am. The bulk of our curriculum time and projects take place in the morning. A lot of our gross motor activities are also in the morning. For example, we like to take spur of the moment walks. We would hate for children to miss out on any of these great activities. · Equal Home and School Effort We try to establish routines and consistency in our school schedule. We ask families to try to establish similar routines at home to help with consistency for children’s behavior. · Coats/Shoes/Clothing We assist the children with their clothing and coats. It is important for self-sufficiency to allow them to be more independent and practice these skills. When children are learning to put on shoes, Velcro shoes are always the preferred choice. Welcome to our room!!
